Ding Rent Cars
We've built an online car rental store using Symfony & Sylius, transforming a standard ecommerce platform into a specialized car rental reservation system.
The Client
DarTur is an Argentine tourism and transportation company with over 25 years of automotive experience, leading the market by offering ground transportation services. In their quest for innovation, Darío and his team contacted us, bringing their next innovation: DingRentCars, dedicated to offering a new possibility to their customers by providing car rental services. Odiseo took charge of materializing their idea by proposing solutions using cutting-edge technology, developing a custom e-commerce platform for car rentals.
FACING THE CHALLENGE
When the client presented us with their idea, due to our experience, we had no doubt about the framework we should use to bring the project to life: Sylius. While it is a standard ecommerce framework, we could customize it to transform it from a standard ecommerce platform into a true reservation system. This way, we were able to offer a solution with minimal cost that was efficient and adaptable to the client's needs.

Payment Methods:
Integration of 3 different payment methods, with the ability to make complete or partial payments.

Order PDF Generation:
Using a button in the admin panel, the order can be exported with all its details. For this, we use libraries that convert HTML to PDF, such as WKHTMLTOPDF.

Update prices with a external exchange rate API:
We developed the connection to an external service to automatically update prices for the various currencies used on the site.

Blocking dates for certain vehicles:
A system was implemented in the CMS where the administrator, using a calendar, can manually block vehicles on certain dates. This is for situations such as when the vehicle needs maintenance.

Custom stock management
One of the questions that arose was: "Well, how will we manage inventory in a car rental reservation system?" This system differs from a typical e-commerce setup where each product has a specific quantity. Instead, inventory is managed based on reservation dates and times. To address this, a series of rules based on dates and times were implemented, resulting in the development of a sophisticated booking system reminiscent of a ticketing system.
