Ding Rent Cars

A car-rental reservation platform built on Sylius — a standard e-commerce framework reshaped into date- and time-based bookings.

The challenge

DarTur — an Argentine tourism and transport company with more than 25 years on the road — wanted to launch DingRentCars, a new online car-rental service. The catch: a rental isn't a normal product with a stock count. Availability depends on dates and times, not on units sitting on a shelf. They needed a platform that could handle real reservations without the cost and complexity of building a booking system from the ground up.

What we built

We chose Sylius — open-source commerce on Symfony — and customized it from a standard store into a true reservation system. That work is our Sylius development practice. Instead of a fixed quantity per product, availability is driven by date-and-time rules, turning the catalog into a booking engine closer to a ticketing system than a shop. The result is an efficient, adaptable platform delivered at minimal cost.

01

Date- and time-based stock management

Rather than a quantity per car, availability is calculated from reservation dates and times, with a rule engine that behaves like ticketing inventory — the core of the whole platform.

02

Vehicle availability calendar

From the CMS, admins block individual vehicles on specific dates through a calendar — for maintenance, or any time a car shouldn't be booked.

03

Three payment methods with partial payments

Customers pay through three integrated methods and can choose to pay in full or leave a partial deposit.

04

Automatic multi-currency pricing

A connection to an external exchange-rate API keeps prices up to date across every currency the site offers.

05

One-click order PDFs

Admins export any reservation with full details to PDF straight from the panel, generated through an HTML-to-PDF pipeline (WKHTMLTOPDF).

Results

DingRentCars launched a rental store that thinks in reservations rather than stock counts: customers book by date and time, pay in their currency, and admins manage the fleet from one panel. DarTur added a fully digital rental channel to a 25-year transport business at a fraction of the cost of a bespoke system.
